For some publications, and pieces published via them, the external views are so high that there is no money made. I find that my self-published work has far higher internal views. I no longer share my Medium work on social media, as that drives up the external views, too... and I'm really tired of writing for nothing :)

I have to say, though, that I have a soft spot for the amazing group of women who run Middle-Pause, and do appreciate being able to place work with them!
