Have you actually read the piece, and absorbed? Or are you skimming...as we often do here on Medium? :)

Write. A LOT. Put writing before teaching and other ways to earn that are not actually writing. (lines 5 and 6)

Build a platform (the platform thing) so your agent can do something with you. (See my piece on finding an agent--one Medium piece cannot contain everything)

A platform that both explores you, and--over time--shapes to reveal what you are about.

Be open...even as you continue to write and COMPLETE projects.

Try not to make mistakes in the professional world--(look at the list under Making Mistakes...and keep this in mind. "Mistakes" can look like many things, and can be individual.) But if you do your writing work, and have a professional approach/solid work ethic...
