I finished the writing of a children's novel set in 1526 London, and at some point looked up the colours that would have been worn--and yellow was the favoured colour because the availability of natural dye for that (somewhere in my notes is the name of the plant/s). I thought that was fascinating, as it is so bright, and I'm used to thinking of clothing from other times as dark or beige/cream.
I buy most of my clothing second-hand. and natural fibres. (Wow--it is so hard to find real wool now!) And try to keep as much as possible from going to the landfill! But I am grateful for your reminder here...!
