I read the Bible and the Tao Te Ching daily. And in the past few years have read widely the scriptures of other faiths. It's actually been life-changing to read so many, and realize that the heart of each shares so much with the others. The Guru Granth Sahib--Sikh text--has been a particular delight.

It's the literalists who--to my mind--make a right mess of it. These texts are old and mystical and just strange in so so many ways. They're also dynamic and complex.

Someone told me, recently, that they know someone who "understands Revelations." Really, I wanted to say... and "Where does he pick his shrooms?"
