I seemed to do both because, other than a few teaching hours in front of students, I worked at home. My kids had no idea I did a 60 hour week as an academic. I was the snobby mother who was reading students work at every ball and hockey practice. (Some women just avoided me.) I didn't get my hair cut because I had no time, and used my initial 12 years as a hairdresser to know what to do about that. Sympathy to all moms who blend time with children with earning $$. Craziness, truly. I really enjoyed the rant-read!!
