In my months on Medium, I have developed a lot of respect for those who have trained in the trenches of content writing and other nonfiction forms. My own slowness is a result of just having given myself too much time in the past...with whatever I've worked on. I'm used to taking MONTHS to create the 600 words of a picturebook--for instance!! NOT a luxury of Medium writers. At this point, it seems to me to be about being able to think quickly through the SHAPE of a nonfiction piece...and so many here are masters of that...with your own MFA: Mastery of Fine Art-icle-s! You go! I learn constantly...

My latest book is a caregiving memoir, Dance Me to the End: Ten Months and Ten Days With ALS. I am now on Substack with The Unschool for Writers: a DIY MFA.
