Is this a typo? Either way, it works and I love it!
Lots to think about in this piece. I've really wondered about this, about what non-autistic folks demand of autistic folks. And really, all that we have to learn from each other.
For instance--and it's a bit of a digression--but reading this makes me think of the "banter" I had to create as a hairdresser--and how exhausting that was for me. (And can't imagine how long I could have kept that going...) Or the mask I had to wear as an academic. On varying levels we do all have to do this. Very few people can be who they really are in all spheres of one's life.
No, I don't want to diminish what you are speaking of or how you live, and yes, that exhausting piece!
But it should cause all to be more understanding of what we are demanding of each other!
Kindness is key!!! Openness. Respectful curiosity... as in learn without expecting others to act as docent of their own life constantly! I could go on... but thank you for making me think!!
