I've published a dozen books with traditional publishers, and have MANY more completed but unpublished. The few that I've tossed were badly in need of tossing :)

Five years is a pretty typical amount of time for me to finish a piece! Congrats on sticking with your memoir right through to publishing, Barbara! Well done.
