MOST of Substack is “besides writing.” I think they want NOT to become another Medium. In fact, they do not have a “writing” category. I’m listed under “Fiction” which seems a bit odd.

True, there are some of what I call “pyramid-scheme” writing newsletters (!), but compared to here… next to nothing.

So go for it! Browse through what’s there on their “featured” page, and figure out something you enjoy writing about — something that will sustain you.
