Patreon and Substack are the same, though Patreon has — or used to have — more podcast/music possibilities, and Substack was more text-based. Now that is changing. They are both subscriber/patron-based, direct to/with the artist.

So it is interesting to hear this from you! Do you mean you support those who put fiction or poetry online, as opposed to newsletters/blogs? There is a lot of creative work on Substack. No, I’m not trying to convince you :) but curious about your thoughts. I SO appreciate that you are mindful of supporting those who are “actively creating!” My newsletter is about writing in multiple genres (mostly because my published works are eclectic — from picturebooks to adult short fiction and memoir, YA and MG novels… a bit mad really.) But I don’t post my fiction on Substack.
