Since moving a month ago, I've been meaning to go to a nearby Anglican church. I read these two pieces of yours early this morning and, as a result, made the effort to go.
I grew up in the Pentecostal tradition. I don't like churches with screens and chairs. This church is one of the oldest in my city, with NO screens and scratched up old pews. With the snowfall, there were only 20 people there. (Notably few women, only old ones! But a range of ages of men. I live in the poorest neighbourhood, the lowest income postal code in the country. Lots of homeless people. This church has one priest dedicated to street work.)
We were all given a candle, and took part in a procession. The music was lovely. Altogether enjoyable.
Thank you for your work here, Paul.
