This is so interesting, yes. Mystery was never encouraged in the Protestant home in which I grew up. At least, not actively. Though now, as an ageing adult, I see that my parents didn't really align their beliefs with their teachings for their children. My mother grew up Catholic, and so there was a lot of anti-catholicism in my home--which was a shame.

There was also--and still is--in my family, a peculiar (I think!) humanizing of God...which rendered Him much less mystery and more, well, human, with human thinking and emotion... which, is rather deadening.

Just mulling over--it's a timely and significant piece of faith.
