True. Thank you for writing. Here in Vancouver, Canada, we've lost a number of working-class venues--which means many musicians can't afford to go support friends at many of the venues that remain. After years of tent-cities, the government bought up a number of cheap hotels, one that had an historic jazz venue... long story, now we, working-class and musicians, have lost a significant place. (Jelly Roll Morton LIVED in this place 1918-1921). Oh my, it's saddening. But YES--we go out and support not only musicians but venues, too. Wishing you the best!
